yeah the mold that formed in my closet ceiling of my apartment. Well I bleached the life out of it but still told my apartment office about it.

Kinja'd!!!

So cleared out the closet and everything away from the door thinking they're going to need to remove the drywall as I'm *pretty sure* it has water damage/more mold inside it (you can smell mold outside my front door but once you're inside it's gone). The dry bucket there is also slowly collecting water since I sealed off the bottom of the door.

Well they came by to fix it.... And the service ticket left on my counter while I was at work "painted water stains" . Yup, what better way to removed a potentially health damaging organism than to paint over it! Hell I didn't even care about the water stains. What I did care about was swamp thing growing in my closet again! What kills me is these are actually pretty nice apartments too, weret far from slums. There's a Harris Teeter within walking distance!

Here's a beetle that worked with me yesterday as tax for listening to my rant.

Also does anyone know of any at home mold testing kits?

Alright, this is related to my professional field. Home mold testing kits are stupid. If you see mold, then there is a mold issue. Also, the issue is not the mold, there is a water leak. It takes persistent moisture to even allow for mold growth. They may have painted with Killz, which is a paint that isn't supposed to allow mold to grow. If it happens again, complain about a moisture leak, not the mold. Say you hear water dripping up there, they will have to rip out the drywall, find the source of the leak and then it should be resolved.

You're welcome.

Bleaching mold doesn't kill it, it makes black mold white. As stated you can paint over it but until the leak is fixed it will still grow.

There is a reason why good mold remediation is expensive.

Bleach kills mold, the problem is it only kills the surface mold. That's why remediation is so expensive. http://www.epa.gov/mold/mold_reme…

But, we agree that as long as their is moisture, it will continue to be an issue.

I knew Oppo was the place to ask. Thanks for saving me $7 on a home test kit. I'll keep an eye on the closet and wait for the water to show up. It's quarantined from the rest of my apartment currently thanks to some old garage door seal I found.
